Pulwama, Dec 31, KDC: The District Police Pulwama has concluded the year 2025 with an exceptional record of law enforcement and community engagement, marked by a significant crackdown on narcotics, illegal mining, and cybercrime. The year was highlighted by a 92.46% crime disposal rate and the successful hosting of the Royal Premier Cricket League, which earned a special mention by the Prime Minister of India in “Mann Ki Baat”.

In a massive offensive against the drug menace, the Pulwama Police registered 115 NDPS cases and arrested 136 individuals throughout the year. The department demonstrated its commitment to dismantling the financial network of drug traffickers by freezing 14 bank accounts and attaching property under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act. To further deter offenders, the driving licenses of 11 drug peddlers were cancelled, and 11 individuals were booked under the PIT NDPS Act. Out of the total cases, 101 were successfully challaned against the accused.

The scale of narcotics recovery was immense, including over 100 kg of Poppy Straw, 175.148 kg of Cannabis powder, 3326.11 grams of Charas, and significant quantities of high-potency drugs such as 1517.77 grams of Heroin and 1.270 kg of Brown Sugar. Other seizures included 79.56 kg of Green Opium Poppy, 100.238 kg of Cannabis leaves, 27.317 kg of Ganja, 100 bottles of Codeine (plus an additional 1030 ml), 2250 ml of liquor, and Rs 24,500 in cash.

The police department showed high efficiency in handling modern financial threats and environmental protection. Out of 578 cyber complaints received, which comprised 492 financial frauds and 86 social media grievances, 445 were successfully disposed of. This proactive response resulted in the recovery or saving of Rs. 40,50,429 for the affected citizens.

Simultaneously, the department cracked down on environmental crimes by registering 85 FIRs for illegal mining. These enforcement operations resulted in 230 arrests and the seizure of 212 vehicles. To further deter such activities, authorities ensured the cancellation of 54 driving licenses belonging to those involved in these illegal mining operations.

Security forces maintained a firm grip on the district’s stability, booking 17 persons under the Public Safety Act (PSA) for posing a threat to the peaceful atmosphere. Strategic interventions successfully prevented six individuals from joining terrorism, while the year also recorded one conviction and one property seizure in UAP (Unlawful Activities Prevention) cases.

The police force prioritized building a bridge with the local community through 49 Civic Action programs in sports and other fields. To educate the public on the transition to New Criminal Laws and cyber security, the department conducted 302 Thana Devas and awareness programs. Internally, the establishment of the District Training Centre at DPL Pulwama significantly enhanced professional skills, with 1,177 police personnel receiving specialized training on the New Criminal Laws and participating in two joint law and order programmes.

Out of 624 total cases registered in the district, an impressive 577 cases were disposed of. The Women Police Station Pulwama also played a crucial role in social stability by successfully settling 253 matrimonial issues. Furthermore, stolen property worth approximately Rs 29,04,665 was recovered in various theft cases.

The year was also one of rewards and career progression within the force, with 50 Constables and Followers receiving in-situ grade promotions. In total, 1,991 police personnel were rewarded for their exemplary service. The defining moment of 2025 remains the Royal Premier Cricket League, which saw a massive turnout of 30,000 people during its inaugural match, symbolizing the return of normalcy and the strong Police-Public bond in Pulwama.
