Srinagar, Dec 30, KDC: Pulwama Police have issued a public advisory stating that the use of Virtual Private Network (VPN) services has been temporarily restricted across Pulwama district, following directions from the District Magistrate (DM), Pulwama.
The police said the move is a preventive measure to ensure public safety, cybersecurity, and maintenance of law and order, aimed at preventing misuse of VPN services that may hinder lawful monitoring or compromise security.
Residents have been asked to comply with the restrictions and refrain from using VPN services on all digital devices with immediate effect.
“Any violation of these directions will invite strict legal action under applicable laws,” the police warned.
Earlier, Kupwara, Kulgam, Shopian, and Budgam districts of the Valley also imposed similar temporary VPN restrictions, making them the latest districts to order action against violations, including legal proceedings against individuals breaching the DM directives.
Pulwama Police appealed to citizens to cooperate in upholding peace, security, and public interest in the district. (KDC)
