Srinagar, Dec 25, KDC: General Secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party, Rafi Ahmed Mir, today addressed a provincial meeting in Srinagar, even as speculation continues to swirl on social media and in political circles that he may join the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on January 7, a date that coincides with the death anniversary of PDP founder Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
Apni Party, meanwhile, issued a press release accompanied by photographs from the event, asserting its continued political outreach in the Valley. The release quoted Mir as stressing that engaging the younger generation through meaningful dialogue is essential to achieving sustainable peace and equitable development in Jammu and Kashmir.
“We need to engage the young generation in meaningful dialogue to address their issues for a peaceful atmosphere,” Mir said during his address, according to the party statement issued to Kashmir Dot Com. He added that peace and development cannot be ensured without youth participation, and described dialogue as the most credible bridge between political aspirations and real societal stability.
The press release also reflected serious concern from party leaders over the rising drug addiction crisis in Kashmir, which they said is adversely impacting social fabric and fuelling criminal activity. Speaking in the session, Provincial President Kashmir, Mohammad Ashraf Mir, described the situation as a growing challenge that requires sustained community awareness and collective action. District President Kulgam, Abdul Majeed Padder, reiterated that public welfare remains the party’s core agenda, and urged workers to further strengthen grassroots engagement.
The valedictory session, anchored by BCA student Nausheen Lone, featured participant feedback appreciating the programme’s academic depth, practical orientation and relevance. The Apni Party media cell, in its release, commended the efforts of IQAC and student volunteers for their support in managing the academic and logistical aspects of the bootcamp, adding that the initiative has strengthened student awareness of emerging security challenges in wireless and IoT ecosystems.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Syed Mutahhar Aaqib, Coordinator IQAC, who expressed gratitude to the college Principal, Professor Mohammad Shafi Lone, as well as Principal Investigator ISEA Project, Ajaz Ahmad Kumar, and NIELIT In-Charge Director, Ashiq Hussain Dar, for their institutional support. He also acknowledged the contributions of resource persons, senior faculty, student volunteers and media representatives.
The meeting was attended by a broad spectrum of Apni Party’s provincial and district leadership from across Kashmir. (KDC)
