New Delhi | 18 Dec, KDC: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested another key accused in connection with the car bomb blast near Delhi’s historic Red Fort that killed 11 people and injured several others last month.

The accused, identified as Yasir Ahmad Dar, is the ninth person to be arrested in the case. A resident of Shopian. Yasir was apprehended from New Delhi and has been placed under arrest under relevant provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023 in case RC-21/2025/NIA/DLI.

According to the NIA, investigations have revealed Yasir’s active role in the conspiracy behind the 10 November car bomb blast that rocked the national capital. The agency said he was a key participant in the terror plot and had sworn allegiance and taken an oath to carry out self-sacrificial operations.

The probe has further established that Yasir was in close contact with other accused persons, including Umar Un Nabi, the deceased perpetrator of the bombing, and Mufti Irfan, another accused in the case.

The NIA stated that it continues to work closely with central and state agencies to unravel the entire conspiracy behind the terror attack. Earlier this month, the agency conducted extensive searches at the premises of multiple accused and suspects in Jammu & Kashmir and Uttar Pradesh, during which digital devices and other incriminating materials were seized.

These operations followed earlier searches at locations linked to the prime accused, Dr Muzammil Shakeel Ganie and Dr Shaheen Saeed, including premises within the Al Falah University complex and other locations in Faridabad, Haryana.

Further investigations in the case are ongoing. (KDC)
