Srinagar, Nov 30, KDC: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a chargesheet against a police official accused of duping several people on the pretext of securing government jobs.
The chargesheet in FIR No. 15/2025, registered under Section 420 of the IPC, has been submitted before the Court of Special Mobile Magistrate, Pulwama, against Riyaz Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Rashid Dar, a resident of Naroo Ratnipora in Pulwama. Dar, serving as a Head Constable in IRP 21st Battalion, allegedly misused his position to cheat job aspirants.
According to the EOW, the case originated from credible information suggesting that Dar had taken money from multiple individuals by promising government employment. A preliminary enquiry conducted at EOW Srinagar reportedly found prima facie evidence indicating that the accused had dishonestly induced several victims to part with their money through fraudulent assurances.
Following the enquiry, a formal case was registered and a detailed investigation carried out. The probe, according to officials, established criminal conduct amounting to cheating and dishonest inducement as defined under Section 420 IPC.
The EOW said that the chargesheet has now been produced before the court for judicial consideration. Crime Branch Kashmir reiterated its commitment to ensuring accountability and taking strict action against corruption and fraud. (KDC)
