New Delhi, Nov 27, KDC: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has ordered the transfer of senior IAS officer Ashish Kundra (AGMUT:1996) from Delhi to the Union Territory of Ladakh, appointing him as the new Chief Secretary. The appointment will take effect from January 1, 2026, or from the date he assumes charge, whichever is later.
The transfer order, issued by the MHA’s Union Territory Division and signed by Director (S) Anish Muraleedharan, a copy of which is in the possession of news agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC), states that the decision has been approved by the Competent Authority. Kundra, currently serving in the Delhi administration, will move to Ladakh as its top bureaucrat at a time when the UT is undergoing administrative restructuring and expansion of developmental projects.
The order has been communicated to the Chief Secretaries of all Union Territories and several states under the AGMUT cadre, including Jammu & Kashmir, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Goa, Puducherry, and Chandigarh, among others. The Advisor to the Administrators of DNH&DD and Lakshadweep have also been notified.
Kundra, a 1996-batch IAS officer, has previously served in various key capacities across the AGMUT cadre. (KDC)
