Tangmarg, Nov 22, KDC: The Tangmarg Professional ATV Riders Association has expressed gratitude to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for ordering the reopening of the Drung Winter tourist destination after months of closure, a decision that local operators say has revived tourism activity and restored livelihood opportunities in the area.
In a statement issued by the association, its president Mohammad Subhan Mir said the reopening has come as a major relief for adventure tourism stakeholders who were facing economic distress due to the prolonged closure.
Mir said that the LG’s intervention has “revived the hopes of local adventure operators” and infused fresh momentum into Tangmarg’s tourism sector, which relies heavily on winter visitors drawn to Drung’s popular ice formations and recreational attractions, including ATV rides.
The association also praised the administration for what it described as continued efforts toward developing sustainable tourism infrastructure in Tangmarg and surrounding regions.
“We deeply appreciate the support that enables us to welcome visitors once again,” Mir said, adding that the operators remain committed to ensuring safe and responsible tourist engagement.
The reopening is expected to boost winter footfall in Tangmarg, benefiting hotels, transporters, adventure sports operators, and other local businesses tied to seasonal tourism. (KDC)
