Pulwama, Nov 12, KDC: In a decisive action to curb unlawful activities, Pulwama Police on Tuesday carried out a series of coordinated raids across the district, targeting individuals and premises associated with the proscribed organisation Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI), banned under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
According to police officials, the operations were launched following credible intelligence inputs about attempts to revive JeI’s network through covert means. Multiple police teams, assisted by other security agencies, simultaneously searched several identified locations across the district.
During the raids, the police recovered incriminating materials including electronic gadgets, documents, and printed literature linked to the banned outfit. Several suspects were detained for questioning to ascertain their involvement in unlawful or subversive activities.
A senior police officer said that these operations form part of a sustained preventive strategy to dismantle the terror–separatist ecosystem, disrupt its ideological and financial channels, and preserve peace and normalcy in the district.
Reaffirming its resolve to maintain law and order, Pulwama Police said that such intelligence-based operations will continue to foil any attempts to disturb public harmony and security in the region. (KDC)
