Ganderbal, Nov 12, KDC: In a major coordinated operation, Ganderbal Police on Wednesday carried out extensive search operations at multiple locations across the district, targeting individuals and premises associated with the proscribed organisation Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI), banned under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
According to police, the district-wide counter-terror and anti-separatist operation was conducted simultaneously in several areas with the assistance of other security agencies. The action followed credible intelligence inputs suggesting attempts by JeI-linked elements to revive organisational activities through covert channels and front groups.
During the raids, police recovered a large quantity of incriminating materials, including documents, digital devices, and printed content linked to the banned outfit. Several suspects have been detained for questioning to ascertain their role in unlawful or subversive activities.
Police said the operation is part of Ganderbal Police’s sustained preventive strategy to dismantle the terror-separatist ecosystem by disrupting its ideological, financial, and logistical networks.
Reaffirming its commitment to maintaining peace and public order, Ganderbal Police stated that the operations are preventive and intelligence-driven, aimed at ensuring that no individual or group is allowed to exploit local sentiments for disruptive agendas.
Ganderbal Police reiterated its firm resolve to continue such actions against all elements associated with proscribed organisations and terror networks to ensure lasting peace, stability, and security across the district. (KDC)
