Srinagar, Nov 12: Dr. Suriya, wife of Dr. Nisar ul Hassan, a Professor of Medicine at Alfalah University, has strongly refuted media reports claiming that her husband is absconding, calling them “totally fabricated and baseless.”
As quoted by a local daily, Dr. Suriya clarified that her husband has not gone missing or absconded but has been “formally taken by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for questioning, along with other faculty members, scholars, and students.”
“Some media channels are spreading false news. My husband has been officially taken by the NIA for questioning — not absconding,” she said.
She added that the university administration possesses all relevant documentation confirming that Dr. Nisar was formally taken for questioning as part of an ongoing probe.
“Some incident reportedly took place involving a few doctors allegedly linked to anti-national activities, but my husband is innocent and has no connection with any such matters,” she said, as quoted by the newspaper.
Appealing to the media to exercise restraint, Dr. Suriya urged news outlets to verify facts before publishing unsubstantiated claims. “Such misinformation harms reputations and causes unnecessary distress to families,” she added.

Oh, the NIAs done a number on Dr. Nisar, but his wifes got this covered! Not absconding, just formally questioned! she shouts, like its the most obvious thing ever. And the media, always ready with the juicy (and fake) news. Good thing Dr. Suriya is around to school them on fact-checking – misinformation harms reputations! Yeah, tell that to the guy who read the fake news. In the grand scheme of things, maybe the NIA should focus on catching real terrorists instead of questioning a doctor whose wife knows how to handle the press? 😉 Keep those facts straight, folks!
