Srinagar, Nov 8: The State Investigation Agency (SIA) Kashmir on Saturday filed a chargesheet in a case involving a narco-terror module operated by Pakistan-based terrorist handler Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, alias Khalid Bhai, of Tehreek-ul-Mujahideen (TuM). The chargesheet has been submitted before the Court of Special Judge (designated under the NIA Act), Srinagar, under FIR number 03/2025 of Police Station Parimpora (now under SIA Kashmir).
The chargesheet names seven accused: Anas Aijaz (S/o Aijaz Ahmad Awan, Dildhar, Tangdhar, Kupwara), Zahid Ahmad Sheikh (S/o Nazir Ahmad Sheikh, Chinnipora Bala, Tangdhar), Tanzeer Ahmad Najar (S/o Muhammad Syed Najar, Sudhpora, Karnah), Bilal Shabir Awan (S/o Shabir Ahmad Awan, Dildhar, Tangdhar; currently absconding), Mushtaq Ahmad Khan (S/o Gulzar Ahmad Khan, Trumnard Batpora, Kupwara; operating from Pakistan), Basit Ashraf Malik (S/o Mohammad Ashraf Malik, Nowpora Safakadal, Srinagar), and Arsalan Mushtaq Bangri (S/o Mushtaq Ahmad Bangri, Nowhatta, Srinagar).
The case was initially registered on January 6 this year at Police Station Parimpora after more than 9 kilograms of heroin were recovered from a Tata Sumo (JK05D-1837) during a naka check near Parimpora, Srinagar. The vehicle was driven by Anas Aijaz and accompanied by Zahid Ahmad Sheikh, both residents of Karnah, Kupwara. The case was subsequently handed over to SIA Kashmir due to its gravity.
During the investigation, SIA uncovered a transnational narcotics and terror-financing network. The network was involved in trafficking narcotics to generate funds for sustaining terrorist activities in Jammu & Kashmir.
“The proceeds from narcotics were intended to finance terrorist operations in the region. Filing this chargesheet is a significant step by the SIA towards dismantling narco-terror modules propagated by cross-border adversaries to fund terrorism in the valley,” a spokesperson said.
