Pulwama, November 7, KDC: In a continued effort to ensure transparency, accountability, and compliance with telecom regulations, Pulwama Police carried out a comprehensive verification drive of SIM vendors across the district. The drive was aimed at curbing any possible misuse of SIM cards and ensuring that all vendors operate strictly within the framework of law.
During the verification, police teams visited multiple SIM sale outlets and franchise points across different areas of the district. The documents, registration details, and customer verification records maintained by the vendors were thoroughly scrutinized to ensure compliance with Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and service provider guidelines.
Vendors were sensitized about the importance of following due verification processes while issuing SIM cards, maintaining updated records, and ensuring that no SIM is issued without proper identity proof and verification. They were also advised to remain vigilant and immediately inform the local police about any suspicious individuals or doubtful documentation encountered during the process.
Pulwama Police emphasized that such verification drives will continue in the future as part of the department’s preventive strategy to strengthen public safety and curb misuse of communication channels for unlawful activities. The initiative reflects the commitment of Pulwama Police towards maintaining law and order and ensuring secure communication practices across the district. (KDC)
