Srinagar, Oct 31, KDC: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Friday informed the Assembly that no beneficiary has received a free gas cylinder under the announced scheme so far, despite the commitment made in the Union Territory’s Budget earlier this year.
Responding to a question raised by MLA from Pulwama, Waheed Para, the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department as per Kashmir Dot Com confirmed that “no free gas cylinder has been issued to any beneficiary in Jammu and Kashmir during the said period.”
The written reply, signed by the Minister In-charge of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, clarified that the data on the district-wise distribution of free gas cylinders stands at zero across the Union Territory.
The admission comes months after the government’s announcement of a free gas cylinder initiative aimed at easing the burden on economically weaker households. However, the latest disclosure indicates that implementation of the scheme has yet to begin anywhere in J&K. (KDC)
