PAMPORE, OCTOBER 26: In a major step towards enhancing transparency and efficiency in Public Distribution System, the Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) today rolled out first-ever digital weighbridge in Jammu and Kashmir at Food Storage Depot (FSD), Lethpora here.

The weighbridge was inaugurated by Minister for FCS&CA, Transport, Information Technology, Youth Services & Sports, Satish Sharma, in presence of MLA Pampore, Justice (Retd) Hasnain Masoodi. Senior officers from the FCS&CA department, officers from district administration, and local representatives were also present during the inauguration ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Sharma said that the installation of digital weighbridge marks a significant milestone in the government’s efforts to bring technological transformation in essential service sectors. “This initiative will ensure accuracy in weighing, prevent pilferage, and enhance transparency in food grain handling and distribution operations,” the Minister maintained.

He further added that the government is committed to introduce digital tools and automated systems across all major food storage depots to ensure efficiency, accountability, and better service delivery to the citizens.

MLA Hasnain Masoodi appreciated the department’s efforts and lauded the leadership of the Minister for driving modernization and transparency in the FCS&CA sector.

The commissioning of the digital weighbridge at Lethpora is expected to serve as a model for similar installations across the Union Territory, promoting accuracy and accountability in the management of food grains and essential commodities.
