Srinagar, Oct 24, KDC: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sat Sharma has secured the fourth Rajya Sabha seat from Jammu and Kashmir, winning 32 votes, which is four more than the BJP’s nominal strength in the Assembly, officials announced on Friday.

Sharma’s victory completes the distribution of all four seats, following earlier wins by Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan, Sajad Kichloo, and Gurwinder Singh Oberoi of the National Conference (NC), who claimed the first three seats.

Highly placed sources told KDC that cross-voting from some MLAs outside the BJP contributed to Sharma’s winning margin, reflecting the final political arithmetic in the House.

With all results declared, the NC claims three seats, while the BJP takes one, marking the conclusion of the Rajya Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir. (KDC)
