Srinagar, Oct 21, KDC: In a citizen-centric initiative aimed at improving accessibility to passport services, the Regional Passport Office (RPO) Srinagar, under the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, will deploy a Mobile Passport Van in Kargil from Wednesday, 22nd October 2025 to Friday, 24th October 2025, a government spokesperson said.

The spokesperson, according to Kashmir Dot Com, said the initiative is part of the Passport Seva Project (PSP), which seeks to deliver efficient, transparent, and citizen-friendly passport services across the country. The Mobile Passport Van will provide doorstep passport facilities, particularly for residents of remote and far-flung regions falling under the jurisdiction of the Srinagar office.

“The introduction of the Mobile Passport Van service in Kargil is a proactive step towards extending passport services to underserved regions. This initiative reflects the Ministry’s continued efforts to ensure that citizens, irrespective of their location, are provided timely and hassle-free access to essential documentation,” B.S. Rawat, Regional Passport Officer, Srinagar, said.

The Mobile Passport Van will be stationed at the National Informatics Centre (NIC), VC Hall New Building, near the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Kargil, during the specified dates.

Applicants from Kargil and adjoining areas who wish to avail the service must book an appointment through the official Passport Seva website www.passportindia.gov.in. While booking, applicants should select “Passport Van” as the service option and choose an available date and time slot between 22nd and 24th October 2025, the spokesperson added.

On the day of their appointment, applicants are advised to visit the designated location at the scheduled time. For on-site assistance, they may contact the Mobile Passport Van team (Registration Number PB65BF1377).

The spokesperson said the initiative represents a significant step in decentralising passport services and reflects the Ministry’s broader vision of providing timely, transparent, and efficient services to citizens residing in remote areas.

For further information, applicants are advised to visit the official Passport Seva website or contact the Regional Passport Office, Srinagar, the spokesperson added. (KDC)
