Sopore, October 16, KDC: In a major success against long-evading criminals, Sopore Police have arrested three absconders, including two who had been wanted for over two decades in a 1999 case.

According to officials, a police team from Police Post Bus Stand Sopore apprehended Hilal Ahmad Siraj, son of Abdul Rasheed Siraj, and Abdul Rasheed Siraj, son of Juma Siraj, both residents of Sidiq Colony Sopore. The duo was wanted in FIR No. 311/1999 U/S 376, 109 RPC of Police Station Sopore and had been evading arrest since 2011. After sustained efforts, they were finally traced and apprehended.

In a separate operation, Police Post Warpora arrested Nazir Ahmad Beigh, son of Gull Beigh, resident of Botingoo Sopore, who was wanted in FIR No. 120/2013 U/S 379 RPC & 6 Forest Act and had been absconding since 2018.

After completing all legal formalities, the arrested individuals were produced before the Competent Court. The court remanded the two accused in the 1999 case to District Jail Baramulla, while the third accused was lodged in Sub-Jail Sopore.

Officials told news agency Kashmir Dot Com that these arrests are part of the police’s intensified crackdown on absconders and proclaimed offenders. Notably, in the past ten days alone, Sopore Police have arrested five long-evading absconders, reaffirming their resolve that no one can evade the law forever.

“Sopore Police remains committed to upholding the rule of law, ensuring accountability, and delivering justice, proving once again that justice may be delayed, but it will never be denied,” a police spokesman said. (KDC)
