Srinagar, Oct 06: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday announced the schedule for by-elections to the Budgam and Nagrota Assembly constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir, which will be held simultaneously with the Bihar Assembly elections 2025.
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, while addressing a press conference said that polling for the two seats will take place on November 11, and counting of votes will be conducted on November 14. The ECI also announced by-polls for several other constituencies across various states.
The Budgam seat fell vacant after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah vacated it to retain the Ganderbal constituency, following his victory from both seats in last year’s Assembly elections.
Meanwhile, the Nagrota seat fell vacant following the demise of senior BJP leader Devender Singh Rana on October 31 last year, shortly after the declaration of Assembly election results in Jammu and Kashmir.
