Srinagar, Sep 30, KDC: A residential house was completely destroyed in a fire in Shangus, Anantnag East, sparking anger among locals who confronted MLA Riyaz Ahmad Khan over the delayed response by emergency services. Protesters were seen chanting “shame, shame” at the site.
The National Conference (NC) Shangus unit as per Kashmir Dot Com clarified that the delay occurred as the local fire brigade was deployed for Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s visit, during which he was laying foundations and inaugurating developmental projects in the area. Fire brigades from nearby locations reached the scene, but residents expressed frustration over the perceived delay.
NC leaders said some vested interests exploited the situation to instigate protests. The party reaffirmed its commitment to the people of Shangus and condemned those attempting to politicize the incident. (KDC)
