Srinagar, Sept 29, KDC: Members of the legal fraternity in Srinagar on Monday expressed deep grief over the demise of senior advocates Ghulam Nabi Dar and S. Ali Akbar, both of whom had been in active practice for more than five decades before falling terminally ill in recent years.
At a condolence meeting held in the High Court Bar Room Srinagar and presided over by Advocate G. A. Lone, rich tributes were paid to the departed lawyers for their long and dedicated service to the profession.
Several senior advocates, including Z. A. Shah, Z. A. Qureshi, and Syed Manzoor, spoke on the occasion and remembered the contributions of the deceased.
Speaking at the meet, Senior Advocate Z. A. Shah stressed the importance of establishing a support system for advocates, particularly those facing prolonged ailments or financial hardships. He noted that many lawyers in such situations struggle due to lack of institutional backing, reported news agency Kashmir Dot Com.
The members present unanimously resolved to request the Hon’ble Chief Justice of J&K and Ladakh to revive the practice of holding formal court references on the demise of members of the Bar, as a mark of respect to the departed fraternity. (KDC)
