Srinagar, Sept 21 (KDC): Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha on Sunday joined a cleanliness drive at Dal Lake as part of Sewa Parv and underscored the administration’s efforts for preservation of the iconic water body.
Highlighting the achievements of the past five years, LG Sinha said conservation of Dal–Nigeen Lake and its catchment areas has been undertaken in a mission mode. “More than one-third of the lake has been rejuvenated and vast stretches cleared of lilies, increasing the open expanse of Dal Lake for the first time to over 20.3 square kilometres,” he said.
The LG noted that Dal Lake is now cleaner and attracting larger numbers of domestic and international visitors, further strengthening Kashmir’s tourism appeal.
Calling for community participation, Sinha urged citizens to join hands in protecting natural resources. “I call upon every citizen to preserve lakes, rivers, and other water bodies through active community involvement,” he said. (KDC)
