REASI/UDHAMPUR, August 2 (KDC): In a moving tribute, the District Administrations of Reasi and Udhampur today observed solemn condolence meetings to mourn the tragic demise of Rajinder Singh Rana, a JKAS officer serving as Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Ramnagar, and his son, who lost their lives in a devastating landslide near Salukh Ikhtiyar Nallah late Friday evening.

In Reasi, Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Malik led the officials in observing a two-minute silence at the DC Office Complex to honor the late officer, a native of the district. Describing Singh as a dedicated and upright public servant, DC Malik expressed deep sorrow over the loss and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. She lauded the officer’s humility, integrity, and commitment to public service, calling his death a “tremendous loss to the administrative fraternity.”

Meanwhile, in Udhampur, a condolence meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai and attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Rajinder Singh, alongside officials from various departments. DC Rai paid tribute to the officer’s service, calling him a hardworking and sincere administrator who earned the admiration of colleagues and citizens alike.

The emotional gatherings were marked by expressions of support and solidarity. Officers and staff members shared fond memories of working with Rajinder Singh, recalling his integrity, discipline, and compassion in public dealings.

As a mark of respect, both districts observed two minutes of silence and offered prayers for the eternal peace of the departed souls. Officials assured continued support to the grieving family in this hour of immense loss.

The accident, which occurred while the officer and his family were returning home to Pattiyan from Dharmari, also left three other family members injured. The tragedy has sent waves of shock across the administrative corridors of Jammu and Kashmir. (KDC)
