Srinagar, July 12, KDC: In a major step towards combating the drug menace and dismantling the financial infrastructure supporting narcotics trade, Srinagar Police has attached a property worth over ₹1 crore under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The attached property—a two-storeyed residential house valued at approximately ₹1.03 crore—is located in the Aali Masjid Eidgah area and belongs to Mir Romaan, son of Mohammad Hashim Mir. The accused is involved in a narcotics case registered under FIR No. 136/2024 under sections 8/22 and 29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Safakadal.
According to police, Romaan is a repeat offender with a history of drug peddling and has been actively targeting the local youth, posing a serious threat to public health and social stability. Investigations confirmed that the seized property was acquired using proceeds from illegal drug trafficking.
Acting under Sections 68-E and 68-F of the NDPS Act, police formally seized the property after completing the necessary legal procedures. The property is now frozen and cannot be sold, transferred, or otherwise dealt with without prior approval from the competent authority.
This action is part of an intensified crackdown launched by the Jammu and Kashmir Police against narcotic networks, with a particular focus on disrupting their financial operations.
Srinagar Police reiterated its commitment to continuing strict action against drug traffickers and urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. “Public support is crucial in ensuring a drug-free, safe, and healthy Srinagar. Together, we can build a society free of drug abuse,” a police spokesperson said. (KDC)
