Jammu, June 21 (KDC): The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Jammu on Saturday arrested Head Constable Roshan Din, who had been absconding after fleeing a trap laid by the agency in a bribery case earlier this month.
An ACB spokesperson in a statement to KDC said that a case—FIR No. 12/2025 U/S 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988—was registered at Police Station ACB Jammu against Head Constable Roshan Din (No. 432/K), posted at Police Station Kathua. The complaint was filed by a civilian who alleged that the accused demanded a bribe of ₹15,000 in exchange for removing his name from the list of accused in FIR No. 193/2025 registered at P/S Kathua.
Despite the complainant submitting evidence—including CCTV footage and factory attendance logs to establish his innocence—Head Constable Roshan Din allegedly demanded ₹15,000 to clear his name.
The ACB laid a trap to catch the accused red-handed while accepting the bribe. However, upon sensing the presence of the trap team, Roshan Din fled from the spot and threw the bribe money into nearby bushes along the National Highway near Palli. Independent witnesses later recovered the tainted cash, which was duly seized by the ACB.
Following an extended search, the absconding Head Constable was finally apprehended on June 20, 2025. The ACB confirmed that further investigation in the case is ongoing. (KDC)
