Srinagar, May 28, KDC: People’s Democratic Party (PDP), former MLA Noor Mohammad on Wednesday rejoined the party fold, receiving a warm welcome from PDP’s Srinagar district president Abdul Quyoom Bhat. The move was publicly endorsed by party president Mehbooba Mufti, who described it as “heartening” and expressed hope for a renewed collective effort to realize the vision of late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
On X, Mehbooba wrote, “It was heartening to see Ex MLA Noor Mohammad sb being warmly welcomed back into the party by our district president Abdul Quyoom Bhat sb. Hope to see this team working together to fulfil Mufti sb’s vision.”
Noor Mohammad, who represented the Shalteng constituency in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, has been a senior grassroots leader known for his deep connect with the people of Srinagar. His return is seen as part of the party’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its organizational base in urban Kashmir.
District president Abdul Quyoom Bhat, while welcoming Noor Mohammad back, termed the development a morale booster for the party cadre. “His return will help rejuvenate the party’s structure in Srinagar, especially in areas where he enjoys strong public goodwill,” Bhat said.
PDP insiders say the party has been quietly working on reaching out to former colleagues and senior workers in a bid to consolidate its base. (KDC)
