Sopore, May 21,KDC:  Mohammad Sartaj Madni, Vice President of the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (JKPDP), chaired a key organizational meeting in Sopore today, the meeting was attended by party General Secretary Adv Abdul Haq Kahn , former ministers , Naeem Akhter Andrabi, Basharat Bukhari sb, MLA Kupwara Mir Mohd Fayaz, former MLC Yasir Reshi, District Presidents, social media Incharge Syed Tajamul, contesting candidates , Zone Presidents , senior party leaders and workers focusing on party strategy, grassroots outreach, and the political path forward.

Speaking to the media following the session, Madni described the meeting as part of the PDP’s regular organizational activity, aimed at fostering dialogue within the party, evaluating its standing, and enhancing internal coordination. He emphasised the PDP’s unwavering commitment to the people, stating, “We are, and will continue to be, with our people through every situation—good or bad.”

In response to questions about the development work undertaken by the current administration, now eight months into its term, Madni said, “That question should be asked of those who voted them into power, and those who were voted in. They must answer for their promises and the lack of progress.”

Highlighting the work of PDP’s legislators, Madni praised the performance of the party’s three MLAs, asserting that despite their small number, they have consistently taken a strong stand on critical issues, including Article 370, the prohibition of alcohol, regularization of daily wagers and casual laborers, as well as matters related to land and employment. “Their voices carry the weight of fifty,” he said.

Addressing the broader situation in the region, Madni stressed that peace is not optional but essential. He noted that Jammu and Kashmir suffers the most during periods of India-Pakistan tension and underscored the need for dialogue and peaceful resolution as the only path forward. “Peace is vital for tourism, development, and a secure future,” he said.

Reflecting on the PDP’s recent electoral performance, Madni acknowledged that success and setbacks are a natural part of democratic processes. He expressed confidence in the party’s resilience, saying that lessons will be drawn from the outcome, and the PDP will emerge stronger. He reaffirmed that the PDP remains the only credible political option for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and lauded Mehbooba Mufti as a leader who speaks truth to power and does not seek favor from any government.

Concluding his address, Madni called on PDP workers and leaders to stay rooted in their communities, remain responsive to public concerns, and intensify efforts to strengthen the party’s foundation at the grassroots level. (KDC)
