Jammu, Mar 15: The Jammu and Kashmir government has stated that no specific timeline has been set for the Cabinet Sub-Committee (CSC) examining reservation rules.

Responding to a question by People’s Conference MLA Sajad Gani Lone, Minister in-charge of Social Welfare Sakina Itto informed the House that the committee, constituted through a government order on December 10, 2024, has not been given a deadline to submit its report.

Lone had inquired whether a six-month timeline had been allotted to the ministerial panel. However, the minister clarified that no such timeline had been fixed.

The government also shared data on reservation-related certificates issued since April 1, 2023. In Jammu, 5,26,660 certificates under Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories were issued, while Kashmir saw 79,813 such certificates during the same period.

Additionally, 2,198 villages in Jammu and 1,245 in Kashmir have benefited from reservations under Actual Line of Control (ALC), International Border (IB), and Reserved Backward Area (RBA) categories.

On the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) front, 29,963 certificates have been issued across J&K, with Jammu receiving 27,420 and Kashmir 2,273. (With Input from Agencies)
