SRINAGAR, Mar 13: Intermittent rainfall continued across the Kashmir Valley for the fourth consecutive day on Thursday, while higher reaches, including the ski resort of Gulmarg, received fresh snowfall over the past 24 hours.

According to the Meteorological Centre Srinagar, wet weather is expected to persist across Jammu and Kashmir until the weekend. The Valley witnessed intermittent showers, leading to a dip in temperatures and disrupting daily activities.

Higher reaches, including Gulmarg, experienced light snowfall. Rainfall data recorded over the past 24 hours showed Srinagar receiving 10.6 mm, Kupwara 9.1 mm, Pahalgam 5.8 mm, and Gulmarg 5.6 mm of precipitation.

The MeT department has forecast light to moderate rain and snow at many places over the next 24 hours, with intermittent precipitation likely on March 15 and 16. However, the weather is expected to remain dry from March 17 to 21.

Authorities have advised travelers, tourists, and transporters to follow official travel advisories before planning trips. Farmers have been urged to suspend agricultural activities until March 18, while residents of higher reaches have been cautioned against venturing into avalanche-prone areas.

Despite the wet spell, night temperatures remained 2 to 3°C above normal at several locations. Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 7.0°C, 3.3°C above the seasonal average, while the maximum temperature on Wednesday stood at 15.1°C, just 0.1°C above normal.

Gulmarg remained the coldest place in the Valley with a low of -0.8°C, still 2.5°C above the seasonal average. Pahalgam recorded 2.5°C, while Kokernag saw a minimum of 5.4°C.
