Srinagar, Feb 18, KDC: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and PDP President, Mehbooba Mufti, has raised grave concerns over the tragic death of Makhan Din, calling for urgent intervention from the DGP of J&K Police, stating “Weeks have passed since the victim’s death, yet no judicial inquiry has been initiated, and the bereaved family has not received any form of support or compensation.”
Mufti, in her post on X, as per Kashmir Dot Com, pointed out the most alarming aspect of the case – that the SHO of Bilawar, who is allegedly responsible for driving Makhan Din to suicide, remains at large.
She said that the tragedy should not be treated as an isolated case, as many other innocent individuals, similarly detained on false charges of militancy, could face the same fate unless prompt action is taken.
The former CM further urged the authorities to not only address the specific case of Makhan Din but to ensure that such incidents are prevented in the future, protecting those who are unjustly detained.
Pertinently, Makhan Din, a resident of Jammu and Kashmir, tragically passed away under suspicious circumstances, reportedly driven to suicide due to the actions of SHO Bilawar. (KDC)
