Srinagar: Police have taken action against six individuals for making derogatory sectarian remarks in Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district.

The accused have been charged under Sections 126 and 170 of the BNSS and subsequently detained at Central Jail, Srinagar. Their remarks were deemed to incite sectarian unrest, police said in a statement.

The statement further warned the public that anyone found engaging in similar unlawful activities, including posting or sharing sectarian content with the intent to create division or disrupt public harmony, will face similar legal consequences.

This action follows the circulation of a viral video on social media where individuals were seen making derogatory religious remarks, sparking widespread outrage. (KDC)
