Srinagar: Gulmarg, Kashmir’s renowned skiing destination, witnessed its first snowfall of the season on Saturday, with higher reaches across the valley also blanketed in fresh snow.
The early morning snowfall in Gulmarg left the meadows covered in about an inch of snow, creating a picturesque scene for visitors. Higher-altitude areas like Gurez in Bandipora, Machil in Kupwara, Mughal Road in Shopian, and other mountainous regions also reported fresh snowfall, officials said.
Meanwhile, Srinagar and other low-lying areas of the valley experienced intermittent rainfall, bringing a chilly spell to the region.
The meteorological department expects weather conditions to improve by the afternoon and has forecast generally dry conditions from November 17 to 23. Light rain or snowfall might occur at isolated higher altitudes on November 24, according to the Met office. (KDC)
