Srinagar: The body of a Territorial Army soldier who went missing on Tuesday evening in the Kokernag forest area of Anantnag district has been recovered.
Reports reaching said that the body was recovered this morning, following a massive search operation launched by the police and the army.
The soldier, identified as Hilal Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Mukdhampora Nowgam Anantnag, went missing during a joint counter-terrorist operation conducted by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and other agencies in Kazwan Forest. The operation was initiated based on intelligence inputs and continued overnight.
Meanwhile, police has begun an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the soldier’s disappearance and subsequent death.
