Kawoosa, Budgam, KDC: In a significant move to combat drug abuse, the Drugs Control Department of Budgam, in collaboration with Narbal Chemists and Distributors, conducted a drug awareness programme at Kawoosa area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district, officials said.
Officials told new agency Kashmir Dot Com that the event was aimed to sensitize chemists and distributors from Tehsil Narbal about the stringent adherence to the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
The programme featured key speakers including Assistant Drugs Controller Budgam Nazir Ahmad Dar, Drugs Control Officer Narbal/Magam Peerzada Tasaduq Hussain, and Drugs Control Officer Budgam Imtiyaz Ahmad Shalla. They addressed the pressing issue of drug addiction and emphasized the critical role of the pharmaceutical community in curbing this menace.
Nazir Ahmad Dar underscored the importance of strict compliance with the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, stressing that adherence to these regulations is vital in preventing the misuse of drugs. “Pharmacists and distributors are on the frontline in this battle against drug addiction. Your vigilance and responsibility can make a significant difference,” he stated.
Peerzada Tasaduq Hussain highlighted the rising concern of drug addiction and called for a collective effort from the pharma fraternity to tackle the issue. “It’s not just about business; it’s about saving lives. We must ensure that drugs are dispensed responsibly and legally,” he urged.
Imtiyaz Ahmad Shalla spoke about the ethical responsibilities of chemists and distributors, advocating for a zero-tolerance approach towards illegal drug sales. “Every small step taken by you in adhering to the law contributes to a larger fight against drug abuse,” he said.
