Srinagar, May 11, KDC: In a significant development, Jammu & Kashmir Pahari Cultural and Welfare Forum on Saturday appealed members of the community to support Peoples Conference president Sajad Gani Lone in the Lok Sabha polls.
Addressing a news conference here, Raja Aijaz Ali, president of the Forum, today appealed members of the Pahari community to wholeheartedly support Lone in the polls.
He said NC and PDP have done grave injustice with the community while Lone played a positive role in granting four percent to Paharis as social welfare minister.
As social welfare minister in 2018, Lone was minister in-charge of the bill seeking reservation in jobs and admissions for the Pahari community. The bill got belated clearance from Raj Bhavan.
The support of the Pahari Forum is seen as a significant boost to Lone as more than one lakh Pahari voters reside in Baramulla Lok Sabha seat. The Pahari tribe is in majority in Uri and Karnah assembly segments. (KDC)
