Srinagar, May 08, KDC: A boat carrying nine non-local individuals capsized in the Hatiwara area of Pulwama district in south Kashmir on Wednesday evening. Initial reports indicate that the boat encountered difficulties, leading to its overturning with all nine passengers on board. Fortunately, seven individuals have been successfully rescued.
Efforts are currently underway to locate and rescue the remaining two individuals who are still missing. Both the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local police teams are actively engaged in the search operation.
This tragic incident follows closely on the heels of another boat capsizing incident that occurred in the Gandbal area of Srinagar a few weeks ago, claiming the lives of eight individuals. Despite ongoing efforts, one person from that incident remains missing, with authorities continuing their search along the Jhelum river. (KDC)
