Srinagar, Apr 19, KDC: Student Leader and National Convenor of the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association, Nasir Khuehami here today urged Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to immediately suspend Tehsildar Sopore. Khuehami, in a statement, said that in light of recent events and the blatant display of arrogance and misconduct by Tehsildar Sopore, he urged the Lieutenant Governor to take strict action against the erring officer.
He said that in a viral video circulating on social media, including microblogging websites, Tehsildar Sopore was seen exhibiting a deplorable lack of professionalism and respect for human dignity. Despite the ailing person’s repeated apologies, Tehsildar Sopore continued to shout and threaten physical violence, setting a reprehensible example of abuse of power.
Khuehami added that this display of arrogance and abuse of power is utterly disgraceful. It’s high time to hold these officials accountable for their despicable behavior. He questioned why this officer is repeatedly disrespecting the dignity of people and emphasized that if someone violates any rule, they cannot, under any circumstances, shout at the public.
He further added that the constitution guarantees its citizens dignity, and when someone repeatedly disrespects and shouts at people publicly, they betray their duty. Khuehami emphasized that public servants abusing street vendors is despicable. They’re meant to serve, not tyrannize. These hardworking individuals deserve respect, not abuse. He mentioned that it’s time for those in power to remember their purpose.
Khuehami expressed that it is important that officers entrusted with upholding the law and serving the people adhere to the highest standards of conduct and respect for citizenry. Tehsildar Sopore’s repeated instances of disrespect towards the dignity of individuals highlight a concerning pattern of behavior that cannot be tolerated.
He also criticized Tehsildar Sopore for pointing fingers at grieving parents for the tragic boat capsize instead of offering support days back. Blaming them in their time of immense loss is utterly insensitive and disgraceful. He urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha that this cannot go unnoticed and emphasized that grieving families deserve compassion, not blame.
Khuehami urged Lieutenant Governor to thoroughly review Tehsildar Sopore’s social media profile to understand the extent of his unbecoming conduct, which undermines the integrity of his position. Such behavior not only tarnishes the reputation of the office but also erodes public trust in the administration. In the interest of upholding the sanctity of public service and restoring faith in governance, he appealed LG Sinha to issue an immediate exemplary suspension order against Tehsildar Sopore. He hopes that LG Sinha will take stern action against this arrogant officer who not only misbehaved but also threatened the common man. (KDC)
