Srinagar, Sep 22, KDC: A  two day National Conference on ‘Emerging Challenges in Obstetrics and Gynaecology’ by Postgraduate Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology GMC Srinagar, commenced today at LD Hospital with ‘Minimal Access Surgery workshop’.

On the occasion, renowned National Laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgeons, Dr. Hafiz Rehman, Dr Milind Telang and Dr. Nikita Trehan along with doctors and paramedic team of LD Hospital performed numerous high risk Laparoscopic and Hysteroscopic Surgeries.

Dr. Ifrah Aslam, who is renowned for her commitment to improving maternal and reproductive healthcare in Kashmir, delivered a compelling talk that shed light on the evolving trends and formidable challenges faced by healthcare providers of Kashmir, reported Srinagar based news agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC).

With her deep understanding of the unique socio-cultural and geographical factors that influence healthcare in the region, Dr. Ifrah Aslam provided invaluable insights to the assembled speakers, highlighting the pressing issues that demand attention and innovative solutions.

During her talk, Dr. Ifrah Aslam elucidated the increasing incidence of maternal health issues and the complex interplay between traditional practices, limited access to quality healthcare, and the changing demographic landscape in Kashmir.

She emphasized the importance of community-based healthcare initiatives, collaborative efforts with local communities, and the utilization of telemedicine to bridge the gap in healthcare services, especially in remote areas of the valley. Dr. Ifrah Aslam’s impassioned discourse resonated with the audience of medical professionals, researchers, and policymakers, sparking thoughtful discussions and paving the way for collaborative efforts aimed at addressing the emerging challenges in obstetrics and gynaecology in Kashmir.

It was a great learning experience for all delegates especially Postgraduate Students and beneficial to patients.

There was also paper and poster presentation wherein delegates and postgraduate medical students from all over the country got platform to showcase their research work.

The workshop was attended by more than 200 medical faculty, delegates and postgraduate students from different medical colleges of the country.   (KDC)
