Srinagar, August 19: Reacting to a recent statement from BJP’s Devender Singh Rana, JKPDP has termed it as his desperate effort to salvage his dwindling stature in the party and also the  bleak prospectus facing his party.

“Devender Singh Rana, has displayed a clear sense of political desperation as he attempts to deflect attention from his own political choices and wavering allegiances. Rana’s political journey is marked by his transition from the National Conference to the BJP, raising questions about his true motivations. His inclination towards business interests and political opportunism has been evident in his career, and his recent statements appear to be a calculated effort to sidestep criticism and regain political relevance,” JKPDP Chief Spokesperson Syed Suhail Bukhari said.

“Rana’s party revoked Jammu and Kashmir’s special status, a decision that has had extensive consequences. One of the first regions affected by this policy change is Jammu. The demographic landscape of Jammu has started to shift due to an influx of outsiders, causing social and cultural changes. Moreover, local job opportunities are dwindling as non-residents secure employment, while the region’s resources are being exploited without restraint. Ironically, Rana and his political allies were vocal supporters of the revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status. They celebrated a decision that has resulted in challenges directly affecting the people of Jammu,” He said.

Bukhari said that the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Party (JKPDP) consistently raised concerns about these potential repercussions.

“Recent events have demonstrated the validity of the concerns raised by the JKPDP regarding the far-reaching consequences of ending the region’s special status. These concerns are gaining traction among a growing number of individuals, particularly within Jammu. Rana’s desperation appears to stem from the realisation that the JKPDP’s viewpoints are resonating with the public,” he added.

The turncoat businessman going around as a politician has always been in lookout for greener pastures to further his business interests. He had hoped that in BJP, with his brother around would be a great bet but the realisation of bleak prospects of BJP in Jammu has unnerved him given that the leadership of BJP in jammu which includes him and his brother are squarely being held responsible for the people in Jammu in particular for perpetrating a fraud on them.

“The JKPDP remains committed to the interests and heritage of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Effective leadership involves standing firm on principles and demonstrating unwavering dedication to the welfare of constituents, rather than succumbing to political expediency.
