The Drug Control authorities in Anantnag on Monday observed international day against Drug abuse and illicit trafficking, an awareness programme under the aegis of Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan in collaboration with Chemists/Druggists Association and police authorities Achabal was held, in which general public including chemists of the area were sensitized regarding the dangerous effects of drug and substance abuse by Drug Control Officers of Anantnag and by the police authorities of Achabal.
According to a statement, Participants in general were educated regarding the present addiction scenario in Jammu and Kashmir and warning signs/ red-flag indicators of substance and Drug abuse.
Later on participants pledged an oath regarding the responsibilities and duties in eradication of drug menace in the district.
A road show rally was also organized from DAK Bunglow Achabal to police station Achabal here and participants were holding playcards and shouting slogans about preventive measures and dangerous effects of illicit trafficking and Drug abuse.
Station House officer, Achabal mandated the participants to keep proper vigil on every suspicious addiction related activity and bring same in the knowledge of law enforcement authorities.
Drug Control authorities also instructed the chemists to share responsibilities of one and all to contribute in eradication of drug and substance abuse.
They were further directed to dispense the pharmaceutical preparations with addiction liability inconsonance with the duly signed and marked prescriptions of the medical Practitioners.
Chemist Association Achabal have assured full cooperation and support w.r.t dispensing of drugs inconsonance to the prescriptions and shall act as warriors in eradication of drug menace. (KDC)
