In a first, ‘Gulistan News Channel’ which is a satellite channel with a massive viewership base conducted a sample-size political survey about the upcoming Urban Local Bodies elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

People of Jammu and Kashmir showed keen interest in this largest sample size survey.

The results of the survey for Kashmir Valley were aired today while for Jammu province, the outcome will be declared tomorrow.

A spokesperson of the Gulistan News Channel said that more than seven lakh people cast their votes with the help of Gulistan News’ Online Survey, which will play a crucial role in deciding the future of 20 DDCs in the upcoming ULB elections.

The Gulistan News Political Survey was launched online on 25 April when the voting lines were opened for the people of Jammu and Kashmir while the voting lines were closed on 25 May for the month-long survey.

People aged between 18 to 75 years from Kashmir and Jammu expressed their opinion. Among those who voted online, 3 lakh 8 thousand 746 people belong to Kashmir while 4 lakh 16 thousand 732 people voted from Jammu province.

The participants were asked 3 questions, viz: How would you rate the performance of your DDC Chairperson?  Would you like to re-elect your representative and are you satisfied with self-governance?

The survey reveals that the performance of Safina Baig, Aftab Malik, Nazir Khan, and Irfan Sultan from Kashmir province has considerably improved, while the performance of other DDCs is disputed.

“The sole motive of this survey was to present a real picture of the performances of incumbent DDCs.” (KDC)
