Bandipora, June 05: The NSS unit and legal literacy clinic of Govt Girls Model Higher Secondary school Bandipora in collaboration with J&K Forest Department (forest divison Bandipora) organised an interschool seminar, debate and painting competition on the theme ‘’Beat the plastic pollution’ on the eve of World Environment Day-2023.
The programme started with the welcome address by the Vice Principal of the School followed by recitation of the Holy Quran by Shabir Ahmad Nadvi. A Naat was also the part of the program and was presented by Malik Suzain. The theme song of J&K forest department was also displayed to the audience.
The organising secretary of the programme Mohammad Iqbal Samoon introduced the programme and gave a detailed lecturer on the importance of world environment day .
The keynote speaker for the programme was the chief guest and Vice Principal of the school Bashir Ahmad Mir. He gave an extended and elaborate lecture on the significance of World Environment Day and explained the significance of sustainability in our day to day life and how to attain an environmentally sound atmosphere. He emphasised the need to protect environment and livelihoods simultaneously. He also highlighted the role of environmental awareness in creating a more sustainable world and the importance of environmental education.
Many learned speakers among the teaching faculty spoke on theme and explained in detail the importance of pollution free environment and harmful effects of plastic on our environment.
Around fifteen student speakers also spoke on the occasion and presented a skit related to the theme.
Later, a documentary of WUCMA was also played by the J& k forest department for audience.
The guests of honour in the program were range officer Khuihama Mushtaq Ahmad Sofi and the range officer Ajas Mohammad Maqbool Mir.
At the end ,the J&k forest department (Divison Bandipora) distributed mementos, certificates of appreciation to all the participants and the first three postion holders in the painting and debate competition.
All the technical support for the program was proivided by SNO Javeed Ahmad Mir. The proceedings of the program was carried by Amir Shafi rather, forestor of J&k forest department wheras vote of thanks was presented by Mohammad Amin Ganie of GHSS Bandipora.
