Continuing its arrest spree in connection with Jammu Kashmir Police Sub-Inspector Recruitment Scam, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)  on Monday arrested four more accused including a police officer.

With the arrest of these four accused, the total number of arrests made by the CBI in this connection has reached 13.

Pertinently, examination for the recruitment of JK police sub-inspectors posts witnessed grave malpractices. The probe is conducted by CBI which has so far searched over 3 dozen locations arresting 13 persons among which some are from the armed forces.

In September, police constable Raman Sharma, Akhnoor Tout Suresh Kumar, and Akhnoor Teacher Jagdish Sharma were arrested by CBI in this regard.

An official told news agency Kashmir Dot Com that the four more arrests include Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Jammu and Kashmir police Ashok Kumar, CRPF constable Surinder Kumar, and two printing press workers Vajinder Singh and Pradeep Kumar from Haryana and New Delhi respectively.

Sources said that a day before the examination these printing press workers from Delhi and Haryana had supplied question papers to agents for circulation. CRPF constable Surinder Kumar invited candidates to buy the leaked papers.

Each candidate paid Rs 5 lakh to 20 lakh per paper. The accused Jammu and Kashmir ASI Ashok Kumar’s daughter, son, and son-in-law were on the merit list, raising many eyebrows. Most of the candidates who were on the merit list were the locals from Rajouri and Samba districts. In Samba, three persons of the same family were found qualified for the said examination. (KDC)
