Pattan: The Block Development Officer Singhpora has strongly refuted the news circulated on Social Media Platforms regarding illegal execution of ADP work at Panchayat Halqa RD Pora and involvement of officials of RDD in the alleged malpractice.

The work namely “Up-gradation of R/wall with fencing and 2 No. gates of graveyard at RD Pora under ADP (PRI) grants was approved by concerned panchayat body through Gram Sabha resolution for FY 2022-23. The Administrative Approval of said work stands accorded by District Development Commissioner Baramulla vide Order No. 161/ DDC of
2022 dated 24.08.2022 and the Technically Sanction was approved by Executive Engineer REW Division Baramulla vide No. XEN/REW/8926 dated 30.08.2022 and subsequently work was tendered out and allotted for execution.

As the pre existing fencing of said graveyard was done by brick work with dimensions of (0.45H * 0.22W) was now in dilapidated conditions thus needs to be replaced by concrete work to make it more solid and firm. It was also reflected in the estimate that the serviceable material of pre existing brick fencing was to be reused in brick pillars thus saving any loss to government exchequer. Therefore the said work is lucrative for the said community in all cases.

However it is worthwhile to mention here that the concerned contractor was directed to start the work within (07) days and alignment was laid by the concerned Junior Engineer. But the said contractor dismantled the pre-existing brick work during night hours in absence/intimation of concerned Junior Engineer and Secretary Panchayat. Show cause notice stands served to the concerned contractor for acting of his own and he has been directed not to take up work till further orders.

However it has been observed that a few persons of the said panchayat having personal rifts with panchayat body are trying to stall all development works by inciting the people. Such persons are being identified and necessary action under rules shall be initiated against them for obstructing smooth execution of development works/projects in the said panchayats.
