Pattan, Sep 28, KDC: With an aim to take stock of public grievances and spreading awareness about various government initiatives, self employment/welfare schemes, a daylong block diwas was observed here today at block headquarter Singhpora.
Block Development Officer Mohammad Shafait, Tehsildar Saqib Murtaza and field functionaries of various line departments like Agriculture, Horticulture, PDD, R&B, FCS & CAs, Health etc attended the block diwas.
Elected Representatives, senior citizens and public in large number enthusiastically participated in the function and raised various developmental issues and asked for their timely redressal.
Issues ranging from lack of proper drinking water, unscheduled power cuts, proper drainage system alongside roads, replacement of wooden poles & worn out wires at Dever Yakhmumpora and Khanpeth to upgradation of GMS Trikolbal to High School, GMS Khanpeth to High School, GHS Singhpora to Higher Secondary School, completion of building of Health Sub Centre at Khanpeth, Niabat Building at Khanpeth and starting of work on Paryaspora Water Supply Scheme under Jal Jeevan Mission.
Demands for creation of independent Treasury at Singhpora, DDO powers to Tehsildar Singhpora, construction of new building for Tehsil Office, dearth of teaching staff at GHS Trikolbal, clearing of liability under material payment for FY 2017-18 and upgradation of Subsidiary Hospital Singhpora to CHC were put forth in the function. The grievances were registered by concerned officials and public were updated about latest status of the works.
Speaking on the occasion Tehsildar Singhpora Saqib Murtaza informed the participants that their genuine grievances have been noted by the concerned departments for necessary action. They were impressed upon to actively participate in the development process of the block and endeavour to make it a model block in sanitation & other developmental parameters.
Speaking on occasion the BDO informed that observing “Block Diwas” is an outreach initiative of UT administration to get first hand knowledge of public grievances & actively involve them in planning & execution of developmental plans.
He informed that under Swachta Hi Seva campaign, RDD in collaboration with line departments is endeavouring to make all panchayats plastic free for which sanitation-cum- sensitisation drives are being carried out across the block. He further gave out under Clean and Green Panchayats initiative, program for House to House collection of solid waste and it’s safe disposal is launched for which Swach Grahis/Eco guards have been identified in each panchayat for collecting waste from houses and commercial complexes and shifting it yo dumping sites.
He called upon participants to actively take part in movement to make panchayats clean and green. He said the PRIs and youth of panchayats have to take lead for successful implementation of this initiative.
