Anantnag, Sep 05, KDC: Month long Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan is going in full swing in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district with multifarious activities and awareness campaigns held on day one throughout the district.
Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan is operational with the involvement of all chemists and other voluntary organizations across the union territory of J&K, which are assisted by the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR) scheme of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment.
Chemists and other NGOs have been actively involved in the implementation of the Drug-Free India campaign. Volunteers and outreach workers have gone from door to door, village to village and nearby localities, etc. to educate the people about the ill effects of drug abuse and have assisted in the rehabilitation of victims of substance abuse.
Chemist shop owners of Seer Hamdan village of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district also organized the Nasha Mukt campaign and educate people especially youth about the demerits of this menace on Monday. They also distributed pamphlets of campaigns and stressed people for healthy Society and drug free society.
Chemists association Seer Humdan, appreciated the Role of Drug & Food Control department Anantnag for their support and active role and efforts for the success of Nasha Mukt Campaign.
Participants also pledged to cooperate in stopping the drug abuse and create awareness about the ill effects of drug abuse by encouraging every person, especially the youth so that the youth of India can live drug free and they can become creative and important members of the society.
Highlighting the harmful effects of drugs, an official from the district administration told news Srinagar based news agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) that drug addiction is an issue of grave concern, especially among the younger generation, and has detrimental impact not only on the individual concerned but on the society as a whole which needs to be eradicated completely from the society and in this regard he sought cooperation from all stakeholders.
