Srinagar, July 02, KDC: J&K Students Association here today thanked Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Secretary Tribal Affairs Secretary Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary for launching Technology Enabled Education Scheme for ST Students in UT under which students enrolled in Class XI, XII, and PG courses will be provided Tablet-PCs pre-loaded with study material including books, animations, mind-maps, resource material, and references. The students will now be allowed to own the Tab even after being relieved from hostels on completion of the course.
In a Statement Spokesperson of Association Nasir Khuehami extended gratitude to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for approving the “Technology – enabled education scheme” for tribal students and initiatives to provide state of the art facilities for hostel students and focus on outcome-based quality education and skill development. This initiative reflects the vision and commitment of Secretary Tribal affairs Department Dr Shahid Iqbal towards uplifting the tribal community to share “equality”.
“Technology Enabled Education Scheme for ST Students in J&K will give wings to the creativity of the tribal students and will provide them with the platform so that they can equally contribute towards nation building at large and will serve the very much purpose of “Right to education ” that has been guaranteed to each and every citizen of our country by our constitution. We wish to see technology driven systems being used for upliftment of other underprivileged communities of Union Territory also that will add up to the literacy index of Union Territory and make the best of technology in the field of education, he emphasized.
Khuehami said, it is a highly appreciative step. Today’s age is the age of electronic gadgets.“Technology Enabled Education Scheme” will make every information a student needs, just one click away. Students need electronic gadgets to access educational content available on the internet and this is what the scheme will provide them. These are typical initiatives with which these underprivileged backward segment society will excel in education and move ahead in life. They just need an opportunity to shine.
Joint Secretary of Association Faizaan Peer also thanked Lieutenant Governor and Secretary Tribal Affairs Department for accorded approval for a 75% enhancement in the daily diet rate increasing it to Rs 175 per student per day, up from the existing Rs 100 per student per day and proposal for 25 hostels for the current financial year. Both Khuehami and Faizan expressed gratitude to LG and also Secretary TAD Dr Shahid Iqbal Chaudary for his innovative approaches towards modernizing the tribal communities. (KDC)
