Srinagar, Mar 16, KDC: Three militants affiliated with TRF, an offshoot of LeT were killed in a gunfight between security forces in Nowgam area Srinagar on Wednesday.
A senior Police officer told Kashmir Dot Com that three unidentified militants have been killed whose identification is being ascertained while a search operation is on in the area.
Earlier reports reaching KDC said that a joint team of Police and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.
As forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering a gunfight, they added.
Meanwhile IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that slain were involved in the killing of Sarpanch Sameer Bhat of Khonmoh. (KDC)
