Kulgam, Dec 29, KDC: A gunfight broke out between Security forces and militants at Mirhama village area in Southern Kulgam district on Wednesday evening.
An official told news agency Kashmir Dot Com- (KDC) that a joint team of security forces launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of some militants in the area.
He said that as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them which was retaliated triggering an encounter.
A police officer also confirmed the exchange of fire between forces and trapped militants.
As per the sources, one to two militants are believed to be trapped in the encounter. (KDC)
