Bandipora 06 July, KDC: Bandipora Police while continuing its war against the menace of drugs Tuesday claimed to have arrested a drug peddler in Wangipora Sumbal and recovered psychotropic substances from his possession.
In a statement to news agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) Bandipora police said acting on a specific information, a police party of Police Station Sumbal led by SHO P/S Sumbal Inspector Mohammad Saleem under the supervision of SDPO Sumbal Surinder Mohan, arrested one person namely Mohammad Rafeeq S/o Ab Khalid R/o Naninara Sumbal, during naka checking at Wangipora Sumbal, along with poppy straw 04 Kgs, Cannabis straw( Bung straw) 05 Kgs from a Nylon bag and during his search 1.5 Grams of Brown sugar was also recovered from his possession.
They said during preliminary enquiry it was revealed that the accused is a drug peddler and was selling the drugs to youths of the area to make them drug addicts.
Accordingly case FIR No. 85/2021 under relevant sections of NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Sumbal and further investigation has been taken up, the statement added. (KDC)
