BANDIPORA, JULY 01: The District Administration Bandipora today formally launched a survey of migratory tribal population in the district.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad said that 14 teams of enumerators have been constituted in the district and these teams shall cover 14 major locations and 35 minor locations identified.

He said the purpose of the counting is to identify the tribal populations with details so as to compile a database and identify the socio-economic condition of the tribal population so that focused steps are taken to bridge the gaps and uplift the community.

Dr Owais said the teams deployed for the survey have been trained and sensitized about the task. He said the joint teams of Revenue, RDD, Animal Husbandry and Animal and Sheep Husbandry shall visit the identified location to collect the details.

He urged the people of the tribal community to participate in the process by providing true details so that a true data is available with the government for devising plans for their upliftment.

He said the survey will serve as a baseline for allocation of funds for different schemes planned to cover the migratory population. He said on completion of the survey, the process of digitisation and smart card with complete family details will be initiated. The smart cards will serve multiple purposes for a range of facilities to be extended to the tribal migratory population.

It was informed that based on the survey a range of different facilities will be provided by the tribal affairs department which includes transit facilities, livestock services, healthcare, education, Livelihood initiatives, essential services and infrastructure.
